Just like wildlife must adapt to the conditions that they are presented with in the wild, we have had to adapt to a new way of living during the COVID-19 Pandemic. While this illness has closed classroom doors, the education of our community's students continues thanks to dedicated teachers, through online learning. We want to do our part to help our educational community. This is a FREE service we are offering to any public school classroom in Sonoma County.
Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue is happy to announce that beginning in August 2020, staff veterinarian, Dr. Dan Famini, will be hosting live stream tours to classrooms throughout Sonoma County. It will be the teacher's choice if the session is held in the format of our previous weekly live streams, as an enrichment tour with one of our Wildlife Education Ambassador Animals or we can design a tour to cover a topic that matches your current curriculum. At this time, we are scheduling one class per week on Fridays for a virtual field trip with Dr. Dan Famini. These spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Tours can be held over any option we have access to including YouTube Live, Zoom, Facebook Live. To help get more students connected to wildlife, we will be waiving the fee for this weekly event for public schools in Sonoma County. If you are interested in scheduling a virtual tour outside of this weekly event or if you are a private school, charter school or learning pod, we may be able to accommodate a virtual tour with another member of our team however, standard tour fees will apply and tours will be subject to staff availability.
If you would like to host a virtual tour with your classroom, please contact Kelsey James at firstname.lastname@example.org.

NEW 2020 VIRTUAL LEARNING RESOURCES
Exciting Field Trips
Let's bring learning outside! Come to our beautiful facility and see native wildlife in their natural habitat. Through observation and interactive presentations, your class will gain a greater understanding of their local wildlife and their place in our community. We can do activities on a variety of subjects, including ecology, wildlife rehabilitation, and cohabiting peacefully with wildlife. Our presentations reflect the applicable Next Generation Science Standards for each grade level. See our Content Standards page for more information. Our presentations may include Powerpoint, skits, games, or specimens.
Each presentation at SCWR includes a tour of our Educational Wildlife Community. Our community is comprised of non-releasable wildlife in natural enclosures. Animals include mountain lions, coyotes, raccoons, and many more!
If you would like to sign up for one of our presentations, please call (707) 992-0274 or email us at email@example.com.
Unfortunately the standard SCWR tours are not wheelchair accessible, however we do have alternate Wheelchair friendly options.
For the 2017-2018 school year and beyond, please be advised that we have had to raise our prices to account for the cost of running our educational programs and maintaining our beautiful wildlife community.
$175 Groups of 25 or fewer people
Additional people are $5 per person.
Larger groups are welcome with at least a month's advance notice. If you have a larger group, you'll need to allot more time at the center. Please call 707-992-0274 so we can make a plan for your larger group.

If you are not able to visit our beautiful facility, but still want to get your students enthused about their local wildlife, we do in-classroom presentations. Please note that we do not bring any live animals into the classroom. We find the animals do not enjoy being in a classroom and it is an artificial setting for seeing wildlife. We bring furs and bones for tactile learning and play games to reinforce our presentation's content.
$250 + travel fee for a 45 minute presentation for up to 30 kids. $5 for each additional child, maximum 40 children.
$350 + travel fee for a 1 hour assembly. Maximum 100 children.
Travel fee: $85-165 depending on distance from our site. Please call for details. (707) 992-0274
*We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that relies entirely on community support. Due to our recent price increase we understand that some schools who have worked with us in the past may now find it a challenge to do so. Please contact us if this is your situation. Thank you for your understanding.*
