Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue (SCWR) is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, and the promotion of appreciation of wildlife through our education outreach program.
Our Predator Exclusion Education Program (PEEP) is a pro-active strategy, whereby we hope to inspire people to learn to co-exist with wildlife by providing a variety of tested solutions to keeping unwanted wildlife away from pets, livestock, gardens and yards. By providing a physical learning lab in a real situation with our own farm animals and organic garden, students and members of the community can learn ways to protect their livestock, pets and gardens from natural predation in ways that do not harm wildlife, so that the ecology of the region can remain balanced.
We have recently developed signage for the Education Barnyard, to guide visitors through the different methods that are showcased. Our central display will showcase the amazing (and sometimes frustrating) abilities of our local wildlife so that people can better understand how to co-exist with them.
We are inviting local wildlife artists to join us in inspiring our communities to appreciate the wildlife we have in our beautiful county. In particular, we are looking for photographs of local animals in their natural habitat or focusing in on a special adaptation they have. Some key species are: raccoons, skunks, opossums, grey foxes, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, beavers, gophers, deer, red-tailed hawks.
We have a limited area for the display, so will choose a representative sample. Submissions can be in any dimension.
Please email Kelsey on firstname.lastname@example.org with your selection of images by November 30th. We will not share these images or use them without your permission and your name will be displayed with your artwork. Thank you for participating!
We invite you to submit your photographic artworks
of local wildlife to be displayed in the PEEP Barnyard at
Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue.
